ANIMATION FLOW CHART

KEY

PINK= DEVELOPMENT
BLUE=PRE-PRODUCTION
GREEN=POST-PREDUCTION
RED=SHOT PRODUCTION

description of the stages
Idea, brief, treatment, script, production planning
this is the first stage and is the pre-production stage, first an idea is made up or a commissioned brief. then a written treatment to sell is made for the project, write a script, an outline of the budget. the concept must be pitch. then after the go ahead finalise the budget and the schedule of the project and put a crew together

Concept Design
the concept art is started during the preproduction phase. the concept art is the first stage of the design for the project with preliminary work to illustrate both a narrative for the production and visual treatment of the project, experimenting with characterisation and different styles

Storyboarding
the projects director will work close with the storyboard artist to visualise the script and to tell the story. storyboard illustrates the projects, narrative, composes the different types of shots, demonstrates character actions and shows camera movement and maintains continuity.

Production Design and Visual Development
the production designer and the art director will develop the type of style for the production and produce the final designs for the characters and the environments. for a 2D design a model sheet is made and turnarounds of the characters with key backgrounds, for a stop frame characters and set will be designed for a CG designs for the characters,enviroment and the special effects will be produced. much of the design at this stage will be drawn regardless of what the final type of animation technique is

Recording the Dialogue
the producer and director will cast the voices and the director does the supervising of the recordings sessions, this is usually attended by a Editor often all the actors will be gathered and the script recorded in one or even more sessions but producers work in various ways and there can be many good reasons

Building the Models, Rigging
after the approved design the modellers will translate the drawing and start to build the CG models of characters and the environments, before any movement and animation can be made with the models riggers will create a moving skeleton to provide working joints and parts

Layouts and Animatics
first the pass at timing is done with the story real or in a animatic, in a stop frame this is most likely to become a working real and there will be no layout

Animation
the animation starts when is arrived layouts, designs,(models), voice tracks and the timing for the animator to work with and the animation director all assign scenes to animators who produces images that give off the illusion of movement

 Final Backgrounds and Colouring
in the 2D animation the final colour backgrounds can be produced from the approved layouts onwards in CF colouring of characters and the environments are enchanted by effects and lightning

Lighting and Compositing
Lightning is a very crucial stage in the animation. CG dictating the final colouring and atmosphere of each shoot, composing can be applied to all types of animation

Post Production
During post production phase all music will be recorded, sound effects are added and the final soundtrack is finalised,
